Monday....the weekend in review

Good morning....getting a late start today.  So much to do and so little time......

Well this weekend I went to my first official book event.....BookBash Orlando.  I have never attending anything like this and realized upon my arrival that I was expecting something...well different.

Upon my arrival, lines were wrapped around the hotel and there was another line wrapped around the pool area.....ughhhh.  There is nothing more aggravating than standing outside for an hour in the hot...humid Florida sun.  But the upside is I met some fun people in line.

Once the line started moving....the next thing I knew we were being re-routed to another entrance (I did not pre-register so I did not have a wristband) to another entrance because scanners were down.  At least we were sent inside....but it pretty much sucked if you were not in the right place at the right time....and spent a long time in line as you just lost your great spot having to re line up inside.

Finally, I made it into the event.  I realized it was getting hotter inside than outside.  As the crowds entered it became impossible to see which authors were at what tables and the lines....the lines....no rhyme or reason and it was impossible to walk down certain isles.  Oh and the sweat dripping off of me was making it hard to see....lol

But there were a few highlights for me....got to meet Ryan Winfield and his assistant, both very personable.  I love that....when authors are outgoing and genuine!!  Looking forward to reading his latest...JANE'S MELODY!!!

Then I jumped over to Lisa Renee Jones!!!  Love her too!!   And can't wait to see the adaptation for TV of her Inside Out Trilogy when it hits STARZ!!

I also got to meet the one and only Viviana, Enchantress of Books!!  She was great and I found out we live close...can't wait to see what trouble we can get into!!

At that point...I decided I was done.  I am sure most people loved the event.  Books-A-Million was there which was nice to be able to buy books if you did not want to lug them around.  BookBash was only five bucks to get in, I paid more in parking.  I certainly got five bucks worth at the event....but I think next time I will do my homework better.

Cheers!!

  2. Hi Stephanie!

It was nice meeting you in line. I totally agree about the crowds and such. I spent way too much money, so I think next time I'll reign it in a little. Ha...

I'll be following you, in a completely non creepy way. Haha.
